Modern common rail direct injection diesels (CRDs) like the superb mHawk engine use an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve that diverts inert gases and the blow by oil vapours common to all internal combustion engines back through the intake manifold rather than venting them to the atmosphere and breaching emission laws.

The problem is that over time these vapours create reserves of sludge and soot that build up in the manifold| restrict air flow and are then fed through the motor. It’s a common problem that all experienced diesel mechanics have to deal with - here at Ryebuck we see the aftermath constantly - and is especially true of engines used for short hauls that don’t reach proper operating temperatures. Choking the engine with fumes and particulates leads to loss of power and fuel efficiency and added wear and tear.

That’s why there are so many catch cans on the market. However at Ryebuck we recognise that the major problem with most fitments is the lack of under bonnet space and the necessity to route hoses in and around hot components. It’s very easy to go from sorting a long term problem to creating a bigger one in the short term with bad fitment!

Therefore the Ryebuck engineers chose the best possible catch can for the Mahindra motor and designed and manufactured a fittings and hose kit to make installation easy and secure. A catch can on a CRD diesel is essential to ensure prolonged performance and maximise efficiency and our Ryebuck kit ensures you’ll get lifelong performance.
